Brine reclaim

Resin media

High efficiency Cullex® resin is used in Culligan softener systems. The resin consists of highly porous, amber coloured, plastic beads which are covered with "exchange sites" that preferentially remove hardness ions and replace them with sodium, a "soft" ion. Once exhausted the resin is “regenerated” using a salt water brine solution and the softening process begins again.

Progressive Flow

Using the progressive flow feature of the Culligan Smart Controller, softeners can be installed in a chain, and will come on and offline as the flow requires, allowing peak water usages to be managed.

Culligan High Efficiency (HE)  Water Softeners

The Culligan High Efficiency (HE) 1” and1.5” Softeners have patented technology which delivers improved efficiency to reduce operating costs. Up to 36% more efficient than traditional timeclock softeners. The HE softener reduces hard water contaminants, reducing scale build-up that affects equipment performance. With the Culligan Smart Controller, available on the HE, the softener adjusts to influent water conditions and regenerates based on need. Customers can also monitor their water treatment system performance, consumable usage, and maintenance needs, at a single site or across multiple ones 24 hours a day.

Culligan HE Softeners are offered in Up-flow, Down-flow or in Progressive-Flow configurations.

The system is fully automated thanks to a Culligan controller and durable noryl plastic valves. Regeneration can be set based on time, volume or water quality depending on your needs.

Culligan Ultra-Line HB Water Softener

Designed for large water softening applications the Culligan ultraLine HB softeners are capable of softening water at flows of up to 227m/hr. Hard water is water that contains dissolved minerals such as magnesium, iron and manganese, and most often calcium. Water naturally becomes hard as it moves over and through the earth to either a reservoir or into an underground aquifer. Hard water is probably the most common water problem found in municipal and well water supplies. Hard water can cause what is known as scale (normally calcium carbonate, or limescale as it is more commonly known) to build up inside appliances and equipment that utilise water, but particularly ones that heat the water such as boilers, dishwashers, washing machines, cooling systems etc. This can have a significant impact on energy consumption and efficiency.

by 7%*. The most common and effective treatment for hard water is a water softener.

Culligan water softeners use Cullex® ion-exchange resin which act on the specific ions which cause scale, mainly Calcium (Ca2+) and Maganesium (Mg2+) ions. These ions are exchanged for sodium ions.

When all the available sodium Na+ ions have been replaced with calcium or magnesium ions, the resin must be re-charged, or as it is more commonly known regenerated by eluting the Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions using a solution of sodium chloride (brine solution).

In this way the unit can continue to soften the water by simply regenerating it periodically when it becomes exhausted using a salt water brine solution.
